LDX 2404 1.4662 Stainless Steel has higher resistance against localized and uniform corrosion resistance; meaning they are very strong against a building up corrosion from inside. LDX 2404 SS Duplex also has a good weldability which it obtains from the austenitic phase of the alloy. 1.4662 Stainless Steel LDX 2404 is used in desalination plants, cargo tanks and pipe systems in chemical tankers and many other applications which require very high corrosion resistance properties. 1.4662 Duplex LDX 2404 is also used in boilers and water heaters, heat exchangers and other high temperature applications. Duplex 1.4662 is used in bridges, rotors, impellers and shafts as they all require very high tensile strength. LDX 2404 Material is also ideal for high strength demanding construction material as well.

Steel 1.4662 is a reference to a type of duplex stainless steel. Duplex stainless steels are made from ferritic and austenite phases of the metallic alloys. Duplex grade steels allow for very high impact resistance, corrosion cracking resistance and high heat applications. Grade 1.4662 is by far one of the most used duplex steel types.
1.4662 Stainless Steel is extremely corrosion resistant and could be hardened at work. They are solution heated to a temperature of 1040 degrees Celsius which makes them have very high tensile strength. Since it is a middle range of duplex steel grades, it could be applied interchangeably with many other grades. 1.4662 Duplex is not as temperature resistance as some other super duplex grades. So the 1.4662 Material is used only under temperatures below 300 degree Celsius. It is not recommended to use Stainless Steel 1.4662 LDX 2404 above this temperature limit due to the probability of embrittlement. LDX 2404 Duplex SS also contains molybdenum in comparatively high quantities. This makes Grade 1.4662 LDX 2404 mechanically high strength than the other duplex ranges.
