


The basic content of the alloy in the Hyper Duplex 3207 (UNS S33207) grade stainless steel consists of metal like Chromium, Nitrogen,Nickel, Molybdenum and trace amounts of tungsten. The content of these elements in the alloy promotes the formation of intermetallic phases. Intermetallic phases are known to reduce the impact resistance of ss.
Hyper duplex grades were developed specifically to meet the increasing demands of the chemical, deep water umbilical’s, oil & gas industries. Since the Hyper Duplex Material is known to resist corrosion like pitting and crevice corrosion) and has good mechanical properties like an increased tensile strength and high fatigue strength. Other properties of the 2707 Hyper Duplex (UNS S32707) include its resistance to both chlorine and sulphur related stress cracking, erosion corrosion, resistance to general corrosion in acidic and alkaline containing environments and good weldability. Hence they are used as equipment’s in industries like control lines, raw seawater injection and chemical injection lines.
An increased tensile strength of the Hyper Duplex Stainless Steel could be used to down gauge the final product( end product contributes to lighter installations), thus proving to be an economically viable option without losing any of its high strength and corrosion resistance properties.As compared to other super duplex stainless steels, the Hyper-Duplex Stainless Steel Grade 2707 has an increased corrosion resistance, yield strength and superior fatigue features. Therefore they find applications in the oil and gas industry.
