Super Duplex 255 has resistance against organic and inorganic acids. This quality makes the Super Duplex Ferralium 255 be applied in chemical industry and other liquid processing plants where resistance is needed in the containers and the pipe lines. Super Duplex Alloy 255 highly anticorrosive and strong at the same time. It is twice as strong as its austenitic counterparts and much resistive than its ferritic counterparts. Ferralium Alloy 255 is therefore used in industries like the phosphoric acid industry, power generation plants, other chemical industries, pharmaceutical, metallurgical and many more.
Duplex Alloy 255 can be used in place of other super duplex grades as well. If the costs permit and a high quality is preferred alloy 255 Stainless Steel could replace other grades of super duplex stainless steel. Ferralium 255 mechanical properties make it applicable for very specific applications. Ferralium 255 spec include intergranular corrosion resistance under 300 degrees Celsius, high acidic corrosion resistance, high chloride corrosion resistance and high tensile strength. These properties allow the material to be used in marine environments to make tools and accessories. This can also be used as lining material in boats and ships depending on the need. Pressure vessels and hydraulic engines use Ferralium 255 in their structural parts.
